The Shinjuku Grand Hotel was group collaboration design project between three undergraduate students. Given the task to design this Japanese hotel proved to be challenging, yet one that allowed for a lot of research in the restaurant design, spa design, and hospitality design fields. Each student was responsible for designing a unique restaurant, specific hotel floors, and guest rooms and suites. Research of Japanese 'wabi sabi' principles aided the design process, as well as extensive programming and space planning. Computer rendered designs and material boards helped to convey the success of the hotel's design in an eloquent presentation given to peers and professionals.
